Like everything that is important, this life changing diet, requires a plan. A plan that will set the tone of your food for the rest of your dining life. Better be prepared for a healthy change in the zone. You will feel more healthy and active as maximum nutrients from your food intake is introduce in the body.
The zone diet plan always start with a research, knowledge is a must. Start with free resources in the net, or get the book by Dr. Barry Sears. There are a lot of book selection but it is recommended to start with The Zone: A Dietary Road Map to Lose Weight Permanently which offers a more general presentation, and is complete from start to finish. Pack as much information as you can, because the zone diet is not just any diet, it’s a lifestyle change. General information would be that zone diet is a balance between insulin inducing foods in the ratio of 40:30:30, 40 % carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30% healthy fats. It will be a great start for you as the knowledge will be a part of your inspiration and as an assessment whether zone diet is doable or not on your part.

Free zone diet is just a term use to describe that there are a lot of free information and resources out there that is enough for anybody to start a zone diet program. It is enough for anybody to start but it is not recommended for those who do not have cooking skills. Zone diet is centered around food and if you do not have any skill preparing food, better to get professional help. A little knowledge in preparing food is essential when opting for free information about zone diet.

Looking at zone diet menu before starting the diet is an important step, because right there and then you can asses if you will last being in the zone. If you will not like the food of the diet, you cannot just learn to eat the right foods, you have to like it before you can start. What you can do if you do not prefer the foods of the zone diet is do a preliminary taste test of the food, by cooking the foods yourself or cooked by somebody else based on a zone diet menu. This will prepare you of what to come, and a little taste of a healthy life.
Do a three day trial of the foods. Here is an example for a day:
* Breakfast:
o White of the eggs, any green vegetable omelet, prepared in olive oil
o Any meal of oats kind, maybe cereal or others
o A serving of fruit, mango or banana
* Lunch:
o Chicken breast steamed or broiled
o Olive oil salad dressing of mix green vegetables
o A slice of apple
* Dinner:
o Grilled salmon with lemon juice
o Any vegetable, sautéed or steamed
o Berries, preferably 10 pieces
* Snacks:
* A single serving of fruit
* Oatmeal
* Yogurt non-fat or not
