There are a lot of resources in the web as well as commercially(books, audio-books and etc) for those who are new to zone diet planning or could not understand the program. Some of these resources might be not reliable but most of it shows a detailed procedure on how you will benefit from zone diet and how the whole process is done.

Basically a zone diet plan is about getting the best out of the food we normally would eat, the nutrients and how it affects our body. Upon following the zone diet plan developed by Dr. Barry Sears, the bodily hormones are kept in check and balanced to a normal state, specially the valuable ones like insulin. The guide is more on quality of the food in take not as much as the quantity, like most of the dietary plans out there, which will let you starve just for that few inches you will loose.

The level of the hormone insulin in our body is affected by any food that we eat. Insulin has a big role in the health of our body and also in the storage of fatty cells, whether insulin level is high or low. Sometimes erratic levels of insulin also influences mood and mental sharpness. Our body can only handle a certain level of insulin, and when it goes over or under the limit, our body has a hard time balancing it out. This results to an increase in fat cells and when too much can lead to some health defects.

Zone diet is generally centered in balancing this insulin levels in our body to avoid erratic levels through eating the right food. Returning the body hormones to its normal state, and resulting to good health where we can live at our maximum capacity.
